Artist Biography
Jenjen Bai was born and raised in Taiwan. She moved to the US in 1992, she earned her BS in Interior Design at the University of Kentucky and a MS in Management Information Systems at the University of Illinois at Springfield. In April 2004, Jen unleashed her creative energy on her hobby of jewelry making. This simple hobby became a passion as she discovered that when a person comes across a piece of jewelry that she has made and finds a message that touches them. This motivated and inspired her to continue to design and make jewelry. Jen is entirely self-taught as a jewelry artist and has been teaching at a local bead shop for four years. She was published in Bead & Button magazine with her Golden Glow Bracelet in April 2008, and in the book of Creative Beading vol. 4.
Jen does not confine herself to one specific jewelry technique. Currently her work includes lampwork glass, dichroic glass, sea glass, wired sculpture, metal working, bead stitching, and polymer clay. Jen has a thirst to learn more techniques each day. She finds it exciting when she can blend these fields to create multimedia works of art and explore the possibilities. To ensure durability and quality, every one of her creation is made with attention to detail.
JB Exclusives designs are simple, yet colorful. Jen has long had a love and attraction to bright colors. This passion for color has shown itself continually in her jewelry. She finds the shiny, bright color combinations appealing and just fun! She uses silver in her work in such a way that it represents the metals’ true quality, fine reflective surfaces, crisp edges, and structural harmony. She combines precious metals with beautiful colored glass, stone, clay to enhance each piece. Each piece has its own sense of balance. This represents her creative philosophy. Color, balance and simplicity are her daily influences.
